    Hi, and welcome to Paishaala.

Paishaala means "money school" — and that's exactly what this space is meant to be. A simple, friendly place to learn how money actually works in India, without the jargon, the sales pitches, or the feeling that everyone else got a lesson you somehow missed.

Because here's the truth: most of us were never taught this stuff. We learn algebra and history in school, but not how a credit score is calculated, how to read a loan agreement, or how to build a small emergency fund on a modest salary. So we figure it out the hard way — often after an expensive mistake. Paishaala exists to change that, one plain-English lesson at a time.

    Who's writing this?

I'm Riya. Think of me less as a "financial expert on a pedestal" and more as a friend who enjoys reading the fine print so you don't have to. I'm not here to sell you a product or push you toward any app or bank. My only goal is to explain money clearly — the way I wish someone had explained it to me.

Everything here is written in simple language, with real Indian examples, and an honest note whenever something depends on your personal situation or on terms that change over time.

    What we'll cover

Money touches almost every part of life, so Paishaala keeps the scope broad. Over time, you can expect clear, practical guides on:

    • Saving & budgeting — how to track where your money goes and build a cushion, even on a tight income.
    • Borrowing wisely — how loans, EMIs, and interest really work, and how to tell a good borrowing decision from a costly one.
    • Credit scores (CIBIL) — what your credit score is, how it's built, and how to improve it step by step.
    • Banking & KYC — choosing accounts, understanding KYC (identity verification), and using digital banking safely.
    • Digital payments & UPI — getting the most out of UPI while avoiding the scams that target everyday users.
    • Investing basics — starting small with concepts like SIPs and mutual funds, explained without the intimidating vocabulary.
    • Insurance & protection — what cover actually matters, and how not to overpay for what you don't need.
    • Spotting scams & frauds — the red flags of fake loan apps, "processing fee" cons, and phishing messages.

We'll add more as we go, always guided by the same question: what would genuinely help an ordinary person make a better money decision this week?

    How Paishaala is different

    Three simple promises:

    1. Plain language first. If a term needs a definition, you'll get one right there — no assuming you already know it.
    2. No sales pitch. We explain your options honestly, including the trade-offs. What you choose is up to you.
    3. Practical over theoretical. Every guide aims to leave you with something you can actually do, not just facts to memorise.

    Start here

If you're new, a good place to begin is with the basics of saving and how credit scores work — they quietly shape almost every other money decision you'll make. New guides are added regularly, so consider bookmarking Paishaala or following along.

Money doesn't have to be confusing or stressful. With a little clear guidance, anyone can feel more in control of it — and that's what we're here to build, together.

Welcome to your money school. Let's make it simple.
